Installation FAQs: 1. Installing SBA Data Explorer Suite from a network or
mapped drive causes problems in the install.
This is most likely a permission problem with the
network or mapped drive. The easiest solution is to copy the
install program onto a local drive and then the execute install
program from the local drive. 2. Installing J# and .NET components
required for SBA Data Explorer Suite.
Both Visual J# and .NET Version 1.1 components are required prerequisites for SBA Data Explorer
Suite.
During the SBA Data Explorer Suite installation, the install program
checks to see if both of these components are currently installed on
the computer. If not, the install program halts and directs
the user to install those components. Doing so may require that
the install process restart from the beginning. To minimize that possibility, we
recommend that the Visual J# and .NET components be installed prior to the
SBA Data Explorer Suite installation. These components can be
obtained here:
.NET Framework Version 1.1 Components:
www.microsoft.com/downloads
Visual J# .NET Version 1.1 Components: www.microsoft.com/downloads
Running FAQs:
1. SBA Data Explorer Suite
programs will not run from a network or mapped drive.
By default, .NET security prevents .NET programs (.exe's and .dll's)
from being executed from a remote computer. This greatly reduces
the possibility of attacks by viruses, Trojan horse programs, etc. We
recommend that the program be installed on a local drive on the
local computer and the program
be executed from that local drive. 2.
Can I change the Sample Reports?
While you cannot change the sample reports per se, you can
modify them by selecting new members from the dimensions, revising
Views, creating new Views and then save them to a new file.
These new Analysis files will have a .c3 extension and can be
accessed from the Saved Analyses list in Data Navigator. You
can also access these new Analyses files by a Double-Click on the
file name from Windows Explorer. 3.
I get an error message when opening a Sample Report using the
SBA2006 sample databases.
If you have not opened the SampleProductCompany or
SampleServiceCompany this year with Microsoft Office Accounting
versions, you will need to do so.
When you do, Microsoft Office Accounting will update the dates in those databases to the
current year. The Sample Reports have been defined for the
most current year. The error message is attempting to inform
you that the time periods selected in the Sample Reports Saved
Analyses specify time periods that do not exist in the company
database chosen. 4. I see
scroll bars at the bottom and side of a 3D Bar chart. What are
they?
3D Bar charts can be rotated and tilted to obtain a better view
of the data. This change of perspective can be accomplished by
using the two scroll bars or by dragging the image with the mouse
button clicked.
5. I get an error message when attempting to
Extract Data using SBA Data Navigator.
It is possible for a Microsoft Office Accounting database to not
have data to extract to create some of the SBA Data Explorer Suite
cubes. If this is the case, you will get a message stating
that the cube cannot be processed and will not be created. An
example might be a business with no employees or with no employees
added to the Microsoft Office Accounting database. In that
case, when SBA Data Navigator attempts to extract employee data it
will encounter a situation where the Employee Hours cube cannot be
created. Similar situations can occur with no Microsoft Office
Accounting versions data for Vendors, Items and Customers.
6. I am unable to drag and drop to copy a member into the Selected Member panel
or get an error when I try to double click select a dimension member.
Click on the blank area of the Selected Members panel to unselect any members in the Selected Members panel,
then you should be able to use drag and drop or double click selection.
